When a Danish document is to be used abroad, and when a foreign document is to be used in Denmark, it is often necessary to have it legalised. Legalisation is a confirmation of the signature on the document. Only original documents or documents with original signature can be legalised.
Both Denmark, Ukraine, Armenia and Georgia have signed the Apostille, which means that many official documents (from public authorities, courts and notarial documents) need only to be endorsed with an Apostille from one authority. Thus, it will no longer be necessary to obtain a series of official documents legalised by the Danish Embassy in Ukraine, to ensure that the documents are recognized by the Danish authorities. At the same time it is not necessary for Danes to get a Danish document legalised both by a Danish authority and the relevant country's embassy in Denmark.
The Danish Embassy in Kiev can not endorse with an Apostille.
The Apostille authority in Denmark is the Legalisation Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In Ukraine three authorities can endorse with an Apostille - since each authority covers its own area, it is necessary to ensure that the given institution actually has authority to issue the desired Apostille:

One must expect that non-official documents and a series of trade documents will not be endorsed with an Apostille. The Danish Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine can continue to legalise these documents, but only in cases where the signature is known to the embassy. The document therefore has to be legalised by the Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian Foreign Ministry (or one of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's departments in some large Ukrainian cities).
Since the Danish authorities generally do not recognize documents in Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian, it is still necessary for the original document to be translated by an official translator before the legalisation procedure may start.Documents for legalisation are received on weekdays within the Danish embassy's consular open hours 10.00 - 12.00 (visa section, 56, vul B. Khmelnitskoho third floor). The legalization can be picked up on Thursdays from 15.00 to 16.00.Fee: See the list of fees here. Payment must be made simultaneously with the filing of the document (s) to legalisation.
