Short term visas

Members of official delegations who, following an official invitation addressed to Ukraine, Armenia or Georgia, shall participate in meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programmes, as well as in events held in Denmark by intergovernmental organisations.

Following article 4 in the agreement between Denmark and Ukraine on the facilitation of the issuance of visa to citizens of Ukraine visiting Denmark, Ukrainian applicants will, as a main rule only have to submit the general requirements and the supporting documents mentioned below.

For other applicants who can prove earlier Schengen visa (ex original old passport) the general requirements and the supporting documentation mentioned below is as a main rule sufficient. For first-time visitors into the Schengen area, additional documentation may be required.

Please note that submission of documentation do not guarantee issue of a visa but help the visa officer to make a decision. Additional documentation may be required.

Following article 6 in the same agreement, visa fee is waived for Ukrainian citizens under this category.

An applicant will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.

General requirements:

1. 1 duly completed application form.
2. 1 recent passport sized photograph.
3. Passport with a validity exceeding three months after your scheduled return and previous passport(s) and a photocopy of passports and previous visas and stamps (Schengen, Switzerland, UK, USA, Canada,);
4. Domestic passport and a photocopy of Domestic passport;
5. Proof of Travel Medical Insurance covering all Schengen countries with a minimum coverage of 30.000 Euro for: repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical treatment and emergency admission to hospital treatment during the stay in the territory of the Schengen states (to be provided when applying for the visa).
6. Documents indicating that the applicant possesses sufficient means of subsistence to cover travel expenses. Please notice that the embassy does NOT require a ticket to be presented before the applicant has obtained a visa. On the contrary, we advice NOT to buy tickets before a visa has been issued. The fact that the applicant has bought a ticket will NOT reduce the processing time or speed up the procedure;

Supporting documents:

1. An original letter or note issued by an Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian authority confirming that the applicant is a member of its delegation travelling to the other Party to participate at the aforementioned event;
2. A Copy of the official invitation;

An official invitation is an invitation issued by a Danish public authority/administration and addressed to the relevant Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian authority.

The applicant’s name must be indicated in the letter issued by the competent authority confirming that the person is part of the delegation travelling to Denmark to participate in the official meeting.

This provision only covers intergovernmental organisations but not non-governmental organisations (NGO), trade unions, political parties or journalists. Visits for festive occasions are not covered.

In case of applications for multiple-entry visas to members of an official delegation, proof must be presented regarding their permanent status as members of the delegation and the need to participate regularly in meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programs in Denmark. 

Business people and representatives of business organisations:

Following article 4 in the agreement between Denmark and Ukraine on the facilitation of the issuance of visa to citizens of Ukraine visiting Denmark, Ukrainian applicants will, as a main rule only have to submit the general requirements and the supporting documents mentioned below.

An applicant will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.

For other applicants who can prove earlier Schengen visa (ex original old passport) the general requirements and the supporting documentation mentioned below is as a main rule sufficient. For first-time visitors into the Schengen area, additional documentation may be required, see below.

Please note that submission of documentation do not guarantee issue of a visa but help the visa officer to make a decision. Additional documentation may be required.

For Ukrainian and Georgian citizens the fee for processing a visa application is equivalent in UAH of 35 Euro. For other nationals including Armenians the fee is as a main rule equivalent in UAH of 60 Euro.

In case a visa for a Ukrainian citizen should and could be processed as an urgent case (within 3 days) the Embassy will charge a fee of an equivalent value in UAH of 70 Euro. Please notice that even though a fast track fee has been paid the visa might not be issued within 3 days, if documents are missing or it is necessary to submit the application to the Danish Immigration Service.

General requirements:

1. 1 duly completed application form;
2. 1 recent passport sized photograph.
3. Passport with a validity exceeding three months after your scheduled return and previous passport(s) and photocopy of passports and previous visas and stamps (Schengen, Switzerland, UK, USA, Canada,);
4. Domestic passport and photocopy of Domestic passport;
5. Proof of Travel Medical Insurance covering all Schengen countries with a minimum coverage of 30.000 Euro for: repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical treatment and emergency admission to hospital treatment during the stay in the territory of the Schengen states (to be provided when applying for the visa).
6. Documents indicating that the applicant possesses sufficient means of subsistence to cover travel expenses. Please notice that the embassy does NOT require a ticket to be presented before the applicant has obtained a visa. On the contrary, we advice NOT to buy tickets before a visa has been issued. The fact that the applicant has bought a ticket will NOT reduce the processing time or speed up the procedure.
7. If foreigner residing in Ukraine, Armenia or Georgia: Valid residence- and/or work permit with a translation into English;

All supporting and additional documentation should be translated into English before submitting.

Supporting documents:

1. An original written request from a host legal person or a company, or an office or a branch of such legal person or company, a state and local authorities of Denmark or an organizing committee of trade and industrial exhibition, conference and symposia held in Denmark. Preferably use the following form; The request should state the full name and address of the inviting company, name and position of the person signing the request, the Danish company’s CVR registration number (in the Danish Central Business Register); The request should furthermore state the full name and address, date of birth, sex and citizenship of the invited person as well as the purpose, time and duration of the visit and number of entries;
2. Proof of professional activity: If you work: Work statement for employed person stating the function and date of employment as well as duration of leave (confirmation that the applicant can return to the job) with a translation into English; If private businessman: Documents confirming private business, ex Certificate of registration of the company in Ukraine, Armenia or Georgia and tax declaration (with a translation into English);
3. Documents proving sustainable financial means or income of the applicant to cover the expenses during the visit (for at least equivalent of 350 DKR per day without accommodation): Recent Bank account statement, travellers’ cheques, credit card together with a withdrawal statement from a Bancomat; other proof of financial means; Guarantee from host (company);

In case of applications for multiple-entry visas to business people, proof must be presented regarding their professional status, the duration of their activities and the need to participate regularly in meetings, consultations and negotiations in Denmark.

Additional documentation, only after Embassy request:

1. Statement from Danish company stating the content of previously cooperation between the Danish and Ukrainian company and how long time the cooperation has taken place;
2. A recent employer’s statement about the salary (with a translation into English);
3. Work/ Labour book (original and copy) (with a translation into English);
4. Proof of booking/reservation of hotel;
5. Extract from bank account(s) showing the transactions of the company’s bank
   account during the latest 3 months (with a translation into English);
6. Proof of previous business activities (with a translation into English).

Drivers conducting international cargo and passenger transportation services to Denmark in vehicles registered in Ukraine

Following article 4 in the agreement between Denmark and Ukraine on the facilitation of the issuance of visa to citizens of Ukraine visiting Denmark, Ukrainian applicants will, as a main rule only have to submit the general requirements and the supporting documents mentioned below.

6. If foreigner residing in Ukraine, Armenia or Georgia: Valid residence- and/or work permit with a translation into English

All supporting and additional documentation should be translated into English before submitting.

Supporting documents:

1. An original written request from one of the competent authorities for the international road transportation mentioned below*, providing for international road transportation, stating the purpose (incl. to which country the driver is going to), duration and frequency of the trips of the driver conducting international cargo and passenger transportation services to the territories of the EU Member States in vehicles registered in Ukraine (that the vehicle is registered in Ukraine). A request should furthermore state the full name, date of birth, citizenship and number of the identity document;
2. Commitment of the Ukrainian company to cover all costs associated with the trip.

Additional documentation, only after Embassy request:

1. Applicants international driving license;
2. The Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian truck company’s licence for international truck driving;
3. Tax receipt of the Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian company;
4. Proof of professional activity for the invited employed person: Employment letter from the Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian company stating how long time the applicant has been employed/ date of employment and declaration of salary;
5. Work/ Labour book (original and copy);
6. Proof of professional activity for the invited self employed person: Certificate of registration of the company in Ukraine, Armenia or Georgia;
7. Originals and copies of freight papers, which were stamped by the border control (CMR and PP);
8. An original written request from the inviting company, stating the full name, date of birth, citizenship, number of identity document, purpose, duration, date and frequency of the trip of the driver, preferably use the following invitation form.

* The following competent Ukrainian authorities providing for the international road transportation
are responsible for stating the purpose, duration and frequency of the trips of the drivers:

1. Association of International Road Carriers of Ukraine (AsMAP),
2. State Enterprise “Service on International Road Carriages” (SE “SIRC”),
3. Ukrainian Road Transport and Logistics Union,
4. All-Ukrainian Association of Automobile Carriers (AAAC).

(This category does not cover free-lance journalists)

7. If foreigner residing in Ukraine, Armenia or Georgia: Valid residence- and/or work permit with a translation into English

All supporting and additional documentation should be translated into English before submitting.

Supporting documents:

1. An original certificate or other original document issued by the competent Ukrainian professional organisations mentioned below* proving that the person concerned is a qualified (professional) journalist, ex. national professional journalist’s card or international press-card.
2. An original document issued by his/her employer stating that the purpose of the journey is to carry out journalistic work in Denmark;
3. Commitment of the Ukrainian company to cover all costs associated with the trip or other documents proving sustainable financial means or income of the applicant to cover the
   expenses during the visit (for at least equivalent of 350 DKR per day without accommodation): Recent Bank account statement, travellers’ cheques, credit card together with a withdrawal statement from a Bancomat; Other proof of financial means;

A certificate from an academy or successful participation in a course for journalists is not enough.

In case of applications for multiple-entry visas to journalist, proof must be presented regarding their professional status, the duration of their activities and the need to go to Denmark on a regularly basis.

* The following competent Ukrainian professional organisations can certify that a person is a qualified
journalist:

1. National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU),
2. Independent Media Union of Ukraine (IMUU),
3. Kyiv Independent Media Union (KIMU),
4. Academy of Ukrainian Press (AUP),
5. Regional Press Development Institute (RPDI),
6. Trade Union of the Workers of Culture of Ukraine.

Additional documentation, only after Embassy request:

1. An original certificate or other original document issued by the National Union of Journalists of Armenia or Georgia proving that the person concerned is a qualified (professional) journalist, ex national professional journalist’s card or international press-card issued by relevant national authority;
2. An original written request from the inviting media company, stating the full name, date of birth, citizenship, number of the identity document, purpose, duration, and date and frequency
   of the trip of the journalist;
3. State certificate of registration of employer;
4. Employment letter or letter of recommendation from the Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian
   company stating date of employment, function and salary;
5. Work/ Labour book (original and copy);
6. Documentation that accommodation is covered, ex hotel booking. 

Persons participating in scientific, cultural and artistic activities, including university and other exchange programmes

Following article 4 in the agreement between Denmark and Ukraine on the facilitation of the issuance of visa to citizens of Ukraine visiting Denmark, Ukrainian applicants will, as a main rule only have to submit the general requirements and the supporting documents mentioned below.

Following Recommendation of the European Parliament and the Council, fees are waived for researchers of all nationalities travelling within the Community for the purpose of carrying out
scientific research.

An applicant will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.

For Georgian citizens the fee for processing a visa application is equivalent in UAH of 35 Euro. For other nationals including Armenians the fee is as a main rule equivalent in UAH of 60 Euro.

General requirements:

1. 1 duly completed application form;
2. 1 recent passport sized photograph.
3. Passport with a validity exceeding three months after your scheduled return and previous passport(s) and a photocopy of passports and previous visas and stamps (Schengen, Switzerland, UK, USA, Canada,)
4. Domestic passport and a photocopy of Domestic passport
5. Proof of Travel Medical Insurance covering all Schengen countries with a minimum coverage of 30.000 Euro for: repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical treatment and emergency admission to hospital treatment during the stay in the territory of the Schengen states (to be provided when applying for the visa).
6. Documents indicating that the applicant possesses sufficient means of subsistence to cover travel expenses. 8. If you are under 18 years old, you must submit  notarised proof of Parents' consent for the travel as well as  a translation into English and a birth certificate.

All supporting and additional documentation should be translated into English before submitting.

Supporting documents:

1. An original written request from the host organisation to participate in those activities, stating the purpose, time and duration of the programme and which side covers the costs. A list of participants should be enclosed mentioning full name, date of birth, citizenship and number of entries:
2. Only for groups participating in cultural or artistic activities in Denmark: List of participants to be confirmed by the Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian partner or competent authority, see Standard list of participants;
3. Only for groups participating in cultural or artistic activities in Denmark: Registration form for participants in cultural or artistic activities in Denmark. info about travel route including border crossing in country of final destination, date of flight, flight no, name of airline or bus number plate, (only to be provided when visa has been issued);
4. Documentation for being employed by or member of an Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian scientific, cultural, artistic organization that is taking a part in the program (ex. Membership card/ employment statement / Student book)
5. Documents proving sustainable financial means or income of the applicant to cover the expenses during the visit (for at least equivalent of 350 DKR per day without accommodation): Recent Bank account statement, Travellers’ cheques, Credit card together with a withdrawal statement from a Bancomat; Other proof of financial means; Guarantee from host;

Additional documentation, only after Embassy request:

1. A recent employer’s statement about the salary;
2. For self employed: other documentation for been covered by this category;
3. Documentation that accommodation is covered, ex hotel booking.
   

Pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake trips for the purposes of study or educational training, including in the framework of exchange programmes as well as other school related activities

8. If you are under 18 years old, you must submit a notarised proof of Parents' consent for the travel as well as a translation into English and a birth certificate.

All supporting and additional documentation should be translated into English before submitting.

Supporting documents:

1. An original written request from the host university, college or school, or
2. An original certificate of enrolment from the host university, college or school, or
3. An original certificate of the courses to be attended from the host university, college or school, or
4. A student card issued by the host university, college or school; The written request from the host organisation must state the type (purpose), time and duration of the studies. A list of participants should be enclosed stating full name, date of birth, citizenship and number of entries and whether they have to pay a participation fee or not;
5. Student book and/or statement from the educational institute in Ukraine, Armenia or Georgia; 
6. Letter of support from educational institute in Ukraine, Armenia or Georgia;
7. Documents proving sustainable financial means or income of the applicant to cover the expenses during the visit (for at least equivalent of 350 DKR per day without accommodation): Recent Bank account statement, Travellers’ cheques, Credit card together with a withdrawal statement from a Bancomat; Other proof of financial means;
   Guarantee from host;
8. Confirmation that the payment for the studies has taken place;

Additional documentation, only after Embassy request:

1. Proof of exchange program;
2. Documentation that accommodation is covered.
   

Participants in international sports events in Denmark and persons accompanying them in a professional capacity.

Supporting documents:

1. An original written request from the host organisation: competent authorities, national sport Federations or National Olympic Committees of the Member States stating the purpose, name, date and duration of the event and name of invited club/team. A list of participants should be enclosed stating full name, sex, date of birth, passport number, function, citizenship and mention of eventual participation fee;
2. List of participants to be confirmed by the national Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian sport federation or competent authorities, see Standard list of participants;
3. Registration form for athletes participating in sports tournaments in Denmark. info about travel route including border crossing in country of final destination, date of flight, flight no, name of airline or bus number plate, (only to be provided when visa has been issued);
4. Documentation that eventual participation fee has been paid;
5. Documentation that accommodation is covered;
6. Documentation that travel expenses is covered;

This provision covers also local and regional public authorities as well.

The list of accompanying persons will be limited to those accompanying the sportsman/woman in a professional capacity: coaches, masseurs, manager, medical staff and head of the sports club.

Supporters shall not be considered as accompanying persons.

Additional documentation, only after Embassy request:

1. Documentation that the applicant is member of the relevant sports club/school and for how long time the applicant has been a member, ex membership card or a declaration from the club/school that the applicant is registered;
2. Documentation that the applicant is a professional sportsman/woman, ex certificate of sport
   degree from the national federation;
3. If local sports club, documentation for registration with national federation;
4. If local sports school, documentation for registration with local authority. If school is part of a sports club, documentation for this;

Participants in official exchange programmes organised by twin cities

Following article 4 in the agreement between Denmark and Ukraine on the facilitation of the issuance of visa to citizens of Ukraine visiting Denmark, Ukrainian applicants will, as a main rule only have to submit the general requirements and the supporting documents mentioned below.

An applicant will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.

For Georgian citizens the fee for processing a visa application is equivalent in UAH of 35 Euro. For other nationals including Armenians the fee is as a main rule equivalent in UAH of 60 Euro.

3. Passport with a validity exceeding three months after your scheduled return and previous passport(s) and a photocopy of passports and previous visas and stamps (Schengen, Switzerland, UK, USA, Canada,)
4. Domestic passport and a photocopy of Domestic passport
5. Proof of Travel Medical Insurance covering all Schengen countries with a minimum coverage of 30.000 Euro for: repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical treatment and emergency admission to hospital treatment during the stay in the territory of the Schengen states (to be provided when applying for the visa).
6. Documents indicating that the applicant possesses sufficient means of subsistence to cover travel expenses. Please notice that the embassy does NOT require a ticket to be presented before the applicant has obtained a visa. On the contrary, we advice NOT to buy tickets before a visa has been issued. The fact that the applicant has bought a ticket will NOT reduce the processing time or speed up the procedure.
7. If foreigner residing in Ukraine, Armenia or Georgia: Valid residence- and/or work permit with a translation into English;
8. If you are under 18 years old, you must submit a notarised proof of Parents' consent for the travel as well as a translation into English and a birth certificate.

All supporting and additional documentation should be translated into English before submitting.

Supporting documents:

1. An original written request of the Head of administration/Mayor of the city where the twinning activity is going to take place stating the purpose, time and duration of the programme/ visit and mention of who covers the cost of the stay. A list of participants should be enclosed stating the full name, date of birth, sex, citizenship and number of entries;
2. A letter of support of the municipal authority /Head of Administration/Mayor of the Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian twinning city stating the list of participants and duration of the visit.
3. Proof of employment: If you work: Document from employer stating the function, date of employment and duration of leave (confirmation that the applicant can return to the job); If private businessman: Documents confirming private business, ex Certificate of registration of the company in Ukraine, Armenia or Georgia, tax declaration; If you study: Certificate from educational institution confirming that the applicant can return to the study;

Additional documentation, only after Embassy request:

1. Documents proving sustainable financial means or income of the applicant to cover the expenses during the visit (for at least equivalent of 350 DKR per day without accommodation): Recent Bank account statement, Travellers’ cheques, Credit card together with a withdrawal statement from a Bancomat; Other proof of financial means; Guarantee from host;

Close relatives: spouse, children (including adopted), parents (including custodians), grandparents and grandchildren – visiting citizens of Ukraine, Armenia or Georgia legally residing in Denmark

All nationals who are family members of a EU-Union citizen living in Denmark (in the sense of Article 5(2) of Directive 2004/38/EC of 29 April 2004) shall be issued visas free of charge, as soon as possible and on the basis of an accelerated procedure - This provision does not apply to foreign nationals visiting Danish citizens.

In the summer 2008 the Danish Immigration authorities decided to facilitate entries into Denmark for Ukrainian tourists – under the precondition that the tour takes place as a packet tour ordered and paid via an Ukrainian travel agency accredited by the Danish Embassy in Kyiv. The packet tour should as a minimum hold the transport and hotel booking. The visa applications should be submitted via a Ukrainian travel agency accredited at the Danish Embassy in Kyiv. The precondition for an accreditation in Kyiv is that the Ukrainian agency has a cooperation agreement with a Nordic travel agency accredited by the Danish Immigration authorities (the list of Nordic travel agencies).

On 15 February 2010 an arrangement was established expanding the existing travel agency arrangements in Ukraine to include travel-related companies other than travel agencies.

The Ukrainian arrangement is a one-year pilot programme that will accredit as many as 25 hotel chains/hotels and up to five large holiday accommodation rental chains.

Accreditation of the selected chains will be conducted by the Immigration Service on the recommendation of Visit Denmark and after obtaining a statement from Horesta.

It is a condition that:

• hotel chains/hotels and holiday accomodation rental chains cooperate with a Russian or Ukrainian travel agency
• the trip is arranged by the hotel chain/hotel or holiday
  accomodation rental chain and a Russian or Ukrainian travel agency that has been accredited by the Danish Embassy in Moscow or Kiev
• there is documentation that the trip has been purchased as a package which includes, at a minimum, transport and hotel reservations or reservation of holiday accomodation.
  The terms and conditions remain otherwise the same as the travel agency arrangements.

3. Documentation that an agreement has been made with the approved Danish travel agency about the specific visit to Denmark. To be provided with by the travel agency;
4. Proof of prepayment of the travel as a packet tour: As a minimum transport and hotel booking. The Nordic partner should send confirmation of the hotel booking and other
   prepayments in Denmark directly to the Ukrainian travel agency. The travel agency should bring the confirmations together with the tourist visa application and supporting documents to the Embassy.
5. Proof of employment: If you work: Document from employer stating the function, date of employment and duration of leave (confirmation that the applicant can return to the job); If private businessman: Documents confirming private business, ex Certificate of registration of the company in Ukraine, tax declaration, extract from bank account(s); If you study: Certificate from educational institution confirming that the applicant can return to the study;

Documents proving sustainable economic means or income of the applicant to cover the expenses during the visit (for at least equivalent of 350 DKR per day without accomodation): Recent Bank account statement, Travellers’ cheques, Credit card together with withdrawal statement from a Bancomat, Other proof of financial means; Guarantees from the reference/host.

Additional documentation, only after Embassy request:

1. Proof of your income for at least the last 6 months;
2. Ukrainian, Armenian or Georgian tax receipt;
3. Extract from bank account(s) showing the transactions of the company’s bank account during the latest 3 months.
