The Royal Danish Embassy in Kyiv is looking for a new Political Advisor

The Embassy is now hiring a locally employed Political Advisor for the Political Department. The employee will be part of a team consisting of two posted and three locally employed co-workers as well as one intern. 

The Political Department handles a wide range of tasks, which are set by the current domestic, foreign and economic agendas. You will participate in the preparation of political analyses and reports, in answering requests from Danish and Ukrainian authorities, in translations and interpretation, as well as in gathering and disseminating information to the Ukrainian society.

The position is full-time, 40 hours a week. The employment is on local terms. A competitive salary package will be provided according to qualifications.

Tasks will include:

  • Conduct research and draft analysis on political processes, policies and other developments within sectors related to Danish policy and reform priorities in Ukraine.
  • Monitoring developments in Ukrainian domestic politics, in particular the legislative work of the Verkhovna Rada and the presidential administration.
  • Assist in internal and external communication and address ad hoc requests from the public, donors and official authorities.
  • Conduct regular media monitoring and reporting, as well as updating the embassy’s media contacts and databases.
  • Accompanying and assisting posted staff in external meetings, including oral interpretation from Ukrainian to English and vice-versa.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the team leader and the Embassy management.


  • University degree, preferably in international relations, development studies, political science or journalism.
  • A minimum of 3 years of working experience in international relations, political analysis and/or an international institution.
  • Ability to foster and maintain a broad network of contacts among Government and non-state actors.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication in English and Ukrainian as well as strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Working experience from and knowledge of political communication will be considered an asset.

Starting Date

September 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. Employment requires security clearance from the Danish authorities. The applicant should be eligible for working in Ukraine, i.e. be a Ukrainian national or have a valid Ukrainian work permit.
