Denmark is a close friend and partner of Ukraine and a strong supporter of Ukraine’s reform process. At the same time Denmark is one of the world’s most inclusive and gender-responsive countries That is why Denmark supports UN Women in Ukraine as an integral part of the Danish Neighbourhood Programme.

In the framework of the project supported by Denmark and other donors, this week UN Women and the Ministry for the Development of Communities and Territories conducted a one-day seminar for the representatives of regional state administrations aimed at promoting the inclusion of gender aspects in the development of regional strategies until 2027.

The embassy was represented at the seminar by Ms. Olena Prokopenko. She underlined in her contribution that It has long been established that policies accounting for women’s interests have a positive impact on the development of the society at large, just as a higher representation of women in politics enables the implementation of a more balanced agenda. With this in mind, Denmark will continue supporting aspirations of the Ukrainian society to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men as well as enhancing women’s role in every sphere of Ukraine’s social life.

We express our warm thanks to the organizers. Such events with a strong regional dimension truly inspire, since they enable ubiquity of gender-responsive approaches to policy-making and their beneficiaries include all regions of Ukraine.
