Field trip: Energy efficient water solutions from Denmark in the Zhytomyr region

On 1st of March a delegation from the Embassy’s energy and commercial teams visited the Malyn and Ovruch communitis, located near the Belarussian border in the Zhytomyr region.
The main purpose of the field trip was to get acquainted with the operation of energy efficient equipment for the water supply systems donated by Danish companies through the Ukraine-Denmark Energy Partnership Programme (UDEPP) with logistical support from the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC). 
The local water utility companies showcased modern equipment, including donated by Grundfos, at several sites and assessed that the energy savings were at least 30 % and in some cases even higher. For instance, the water treatment plant in Malyn and water pumps to supply the settlements around Ovruch.
The delegation met with representatives of the city councils to hear about the complex challenges in critical utilities due to the destruction of infrastructure and paid their respect at the funeral procession for two fallen heroes of the Malyn community.
