Mykolaiv-Denmark Partnership

On September 14th, Mykolaiv celebrated its City Day with a range of events showcasing the Danish-Ukrainian partnership.

In parallel with Danish support on a national level, Denmark’s support for Ukraine’s reconstruction has a specific focus on Mykolaiv city and region. This paper gives an overview of the Mykolaiv-Denmark Partnership and how this model is applied locally. As of June 2024, the Danish Government has delivered approx. EUR 142.8 million which includes social infrastructure, water, energy, psycho-social support and much more.

On January 26th, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen's visited Mykolaiv and officially opened Denmark's new embassy office in the city.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Partnership between Denmark, Mykolaiv city and Mykolaiv region was signed on 8 March 2023.

As a result of heavy shelling and disrupted water supply, Mykolaiv city and region have been in acute need of restoration. Multiple projects are in the pipeline.

The city and region of Mykolaiv need support in restarting its economy in order to restore jobs, pay taxes and offer displaced people an opportunity to return home.
