UIF 2.0 – UKRAINE INVESTMENT FORUM TOOK PLACE IN COPENHAGEN
Ukraine Invest Forum was held today at the invitation of the Minister for Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen and the Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Morten Bødskov, in collaboration with Danish Industry and Danish Agriculture and Food Council. Ukraine’s First Lady Mrs. Olena Zelenska, and the Vice Prime Minister, Minister for Economy Ms. Yulia Svyrydenko were among the keynote speakers.
The representatives of the Danish government confirmed the intention to further increase the financial support reserved for the Ukraine Fund in the amount of 300 mln DKK (appr. 43 mio. USD) in order to secure financing on attractive terms to Ukrainian buyers or Danish goods and mitigate the risks for the Danish businesses operating in Ukraine. A broad set of both Danish and Ukrainian authorities, industry representatives and experts provided valuable insights about their experiences in Ukraine already in the times of the Russian full-scale invasion.
In his video address, Ambassador Ole Egberg Mikkelsen spoke about the specific mechanisms that Denmark applied to help the Ukrainian economy get back on track, especially in the partner city and region of Mykolaiv, and ensured that the embassy is fully equipped to support Danish businesses in Ukraine: “Some are saying that reconstruction can only start when there is peace and then you need a big reconstruction conference. But Ukraine cannot wait for that. And some Ukrainians are saying that there have been too many reconstruction conferences and too little reconstruction. That is why the Danish approach is highly appreciated in Ukraine and why President Zelensky has urged other countries to adopt a similar approach”.
