Minister Mykola Solsky and Minister Jacob Jensen with their teams signing Cooperation Agreement
The Minister met with his Ukrainian counterpart, Minister of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine Mykola Solsky. The ministers discussed Ukraine's future membership of the EU and how Ukraine's export of special grains can be secured. The two ministers signed a cooperation agreement which establishes multi-year cooperation in the areas of agriculture and food. The cooperation will help Ukraine to a greater extent to be able to meet the EU's high demands for, among other things, quality, food safety and medicine consumption and thus facilitate Ukraine's access to exports to both the EU and the global market.

The Minister also met with the Governor of Lviv Oblast - Maksym Kozytskyy and his team.

The delegation consisted of 17 Danish companies related to the food and agricultural industry. The Minister and the delegation also met, among other things, with several Ukrainian and Danish companies that operate in Ukraine daily.

Back in Denmark, Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries Jacob Jensen stated:  "I have just returned home after a visit to Ukraine, which gave me optimism and hope for the future. From the Danish side, the trip was primarily about showing our unwavering support for the Ukrainians and offering them our help from both the political and business side. For many years, as large agricultural nations, Denmark and Ukraine have had good cooperation in the field of agriculture, and it is especially in times of crisis that we must prove the value of cooperation. That is why I am incredibly happy that Denmark can contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine's agricultural sector, and that together with the Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture we could enter into a cooperation agreement between Denmark and Ukraine. With the agreement, we underline the fact that we stand behind Ukraine and are ready to help them rebuild agricultural and food production in the country. In my view, more trade will e.g. with Danish companies create value, which is fertile ground for Ukraine's independence and ultimately victory over Russia".

The Danish business delegation held a day-long seminar on Tuesday with Ukrainian representatives from the agricultural and food sector, where a number of cooperation opportunities across the countries were discussed.

Denmark and the Danish food cluster have both competences and solutions that can help Ukraine's reconstruction of agricultural and food production.

Minister Jacob Jensen
Ambassador Ole Egberg Mikkelsen gave the opening remarks highlighting the resilience of the Ukrainian farmers: “Danish farmers have been active in Ukraine since the nineties. They are proud to be part of the dynamic transformation of Ukrainian agriculture. The Danish farming community in Ukraine stayed on after the full scale Russian aggression. Like their Ukrainian colleagues they continued farming their lands despite the challenging wartime conditions. Let me take this opportunity to salute all farmers in Ukraine for your resilience and tenacity in keeping agricultural production going. This is crucial for Ukraine’s fighting power”.
