Danish donation of 500.000 AstraZeneca vaccines delivered to Ukraine

Today the Danish donation of 500.000 AstraZeneca vaccines were delivered in Kyiv. Denmark announced the donation earlier this summer.

With the help of UNICEF Supply Division the 500.000 vaccines were transported by truck from the Danish Serum Institute to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. The donation is a part of the Danish government’s goal of donating 3 million COVID-vaccines before the end of 2021 to various countries.

The Danish Ambassador to Ukraine, Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, states: Denmark and Ukraine are close partners – also in the fight against the pandemic. The delivery of these 500.000 AstraZeneca vaccines is very timely – as it is of utmost importance to vaccinate as many as possible before autumn. I would like to thank UNICEF and the Ukrainian authorities for the assistance, and the frontline health care workers who continue to save lives every day across the country.
