DENMARK DONATES SATELLITE SERVICES TO UKRAINE'S DEFENCE THROUGH THE EU DEFENCE AGENCY
Ukraine needs secure and stable satellite-based communication in the war against Russia. That's why Denmark is donating satellite services to the Ukrainian defence through the EU Defence Agency.
Denmark takes another step in supporting Ukraine by donating for the first time European-produced satellite services to the Ukrainian defence through the European Defence Agency (EDA).
"I am proud that Denmark is contributing to Ukraine's space-based defence with this donation. Space is a domain that increasingly calls for defence policy attention. In close cooperation with the EU Defence Agency, Denmark has now contributed to strengthening Ukraine's satellite-based communication in their defence against Russia. There is great potential in space-based solutions that can contribute to Ukrainian, Danish and European defence," says Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen.
The donation includes solutions to increase Ukraine's access to secure and stable satellite-based communications. Satellites today play a crucial role in modern defence. The donation provides Ukraine with access to receiver terminals that the Ukrainian defence can use to establish access to satellite-based communications that will significantly contribute to Ukraine's ability to continue its fight for freedom against the illegal Russian invasion. The terminals will ensure robust and secure connectivity that can be crucial for the conduct of military operations. The solution is requested by Ukraine.
EDA expects more EU countries to follow suit and consider similar donations. The donation contributes to promoting both Ukraine's and Europe's technological strategic freedom of action in space.
