XXVI DONATION PACKAGE INCLUDES ARTILLERY SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE UKRAINIAN AIR FORCE
Artillery projectiles, artillery ammunition via the Czech ammunition initiative, equipment for combat aircraft and an increase in the training framework. These are some of the initiatives in the donation package that the Minister of Defence has informed the group of parties behind the Ukraine Fund and the defence coalition about.
‘Ukrainian need for help and support has not lessened, unfortunately. I am happy and proud that we can once again allocate funds for donations that will make a difference on the battlefield both in the short and long term. Denmark has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine since the beginning of the war. We will continue to do so in the coming years,’ says Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
The donation package, which is the 26th in the sequence, includes military support totalling approximately DKK 4.2 billion in the period 2025-28 and is financed within the framework for military support under the Ukraine Fund and reimbursement revenues from the European Peace Facility (EPF).
In the framework of the Nordic-Baltic support for the development of Ukrainian brigades, artillery projectiles are donated and delivered together with ammunition. In spring 2024, the Czech Ammunition Initiative was established based on a joint request from Denmark, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands to join forces to finance the purchase of artillery shells for Ukraine. With the allocation of additional funds to the Czech initiative in 2025, a number of additional artillery shells can be procured and Ukraine will be able to better plan for a stable supply of artillery ammunition.
‘Denmark is doing what we can to give Ukraine the best possible chance both on the battlefield and in the room of negotiation. The best thing we can do here and now is to increase military support to Ukraine and strengthen the Ukrainian defence capability. That's why I'm pleased that we can help give the Ukrainian defence a billion-euro boost with another Danish donation package,’ says Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The Ukrainian need for significant military support remains pronounced in light of the continued Russian aggression against Ukraine. This is also assessed to remain true in the longer term, following a possible ceasefire or peace settlement.
