EU PRESIDENCY: PASSING THE TORCH FROM POLAND TO DENMARK

Join us in celebrating the Danish EU Presidency at Kontraktova Square, Kyiv — Saturday, 16 August

From 1 July 2025 and the next six months, Denmark holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, taking over from Poland. The Presidency plays a vital role in advancing the Council’s work on EU legislation, ensuring continuity in the EU agenda, managing legislative processes, and fostering cooperation among member states.

To mark this occasion, the Embassy of Denmark invites the public to a special celebration on Saturday, 16 August at Kontraktova Square in Kyiv. The event will take place within TORV, a pop-up urban space designed by Danish urban designer and architect Mikael Colville-Andersen, with primary funding from Novo Nordisk.

The programme will open with remarks from Ukrainian, Polish, and Danish representatives, followed by a live performance by the National Presidential Orchestra.

A bike parade, organised in cooperation with Kyivska Velosotka in support of the Bike4Ukraine charity initiative, will add a dynamic and community-focused highlight to the day.
