Foreign minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen visited Mykolaiv

On January 26th, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen's visited Mykolaiv. This visit marked an important step forward as Denmark delivers on its special commitment to support the reconstruction of this Ukrainian city and region.

In Mykolaiv, Minister Rasmussen met with his Ukrainian counterpart, Minister Dmytro Kuleba. 

Together, the two Ministers:

-        officially opened Denmark's new embassy office in Mykolaiv. Thus, Denmark has both an embassy in Kyiv and an embassy office in Mykolaiv;

Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated, "Ukraine is still fighting for Europe's freedom and security. We must support them in that, and that is why we are one of the countries that provide the most support to Ukraine relative to our size. We have a special responsibility to rebuild Mykolaiv, and with the opening of the embassy office, we can streamline the reconstruction”

-        announced the next contribution to the EU's anti-corruption program (EUACI) that Denmark has implemented in Ukraine since 2016. The EU contributes to the upcoming phase of the program with more than DKK 70 million (approximately 9,4 million Euros), while Denmark contributes almost DKK 60 million (approximately 8 million Euros);

-        met with Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, governor Vitaliy Kim and chairman of the regional council Anton Tabunschik to discuss further steps within the Mykolaiv-Denmark partnership;

-        visited the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding to witness the destruction caused by Russian missile attacks and to hold a conference with its students.
