Kyiv joined Cities Changing Diabetes program
Today, the Ambassador of Kingdom of Denmark Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, the Deputy Chairwoman of the Kyiv City State Administration Hanna Starostenko and the General Director of Novo Nordisk Ukraine Vladyslav Moroz signed a Protocol on Cooperation in Combating Diabetes in Kyiv.
In Ukraine, about 3.5 million Ukrainians now live with diabetes, but only 1.2 million are aware of their diagnosis and receive the necessary treatment. Therefore, Kyiv joined the Cities Changing Diabetes partnership program that seeks to stop the spread of diabetes, and became the 41st partner city.
In his speech, the Ambassador underlined that once again Ukraine’s capital city is setting an example for other cities and communities to follow. "As a temporary citizen here, I am proud that Kyiv is now joining this league of pioneering global cities. This will have a major impact on public awareness about diabetes and how the disease can be prevented, and as we all know: prevention is better than a cure", stated Mr. Mikkelsen.
