MYKOLAIV – CITY ON THE WAVE
Ambassador Ole Egberg Mikkelsen made a keynote speech, and Jakob Torrild Hansen, Head of the Mykolaiv Embassy Office, took part in the discussion panels.
Ambassador Ole Egberg Mikkelsen highlighted the need for business recovery as the current stage: “Initially, Denmark supported Mykolaiv region in the very first winter of the full-scale war. We helped with the water supply, heating, and other basic needs of the population. Now we are in the second phase of our cooperation with the city and the region. We want to restore their economic potential and thus set an example to other international organizations and institutions that it is possible and necessary to cooperate with this region, despite all the challenges that are associated with it.“
Jakob Torrild Hansen shared his vision of Denmark’s plans in Mykolaiv: “Danes are here for the long run, for ten years at least. For Denmark, this is not a project, but rather a partnership that our both countries, including their public and private sector, and citizens, would benefit from”.
The conference was organised by Mykolaiv City Council, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Association of Business Support Centres and with the support of Mykolaiv Oblast State Administration within the framework of the EU-funded Mayors for Economic Growth facility, and was supported by the "Innovation Facility 2.0" project funded by the Kingdom of Denmark. Both projects are being implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
