PRESIDENT VOLODYMYR ZELENSKY VISITED AARHUS, DENMARK, TO MARK THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE DANISH PRESIDENCY IN THE EU COUNCIL
On July 3rd, the President of Ukraine had meetings with King Frederik X of Denmark, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, and the EU leadership.
President Zelensky participated in the following official engagements:
- A high-level meeting with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, President of the European Council António Costa, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
- An Audience with His Majesty King Frederik X of Denmark.
- Presentation of the “Future of Ukraine” Award to 11-year-old Danish volunteer Jens Fogh Thomsen, in recognition of his extraordinary humanitarian efforts. Jens began supporting Ukraine last year after learning about the impact of the war on Ukrainian children. By crafting and selling blue and yellow Easter decorations, he has raised over 34,000 DKK — funds that have provided school backpacks and supplies to Ukrainian children displaced by the war.
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated: “It is a great honour to welcome both the EU leaders and the President of Ukraine. Denmark has assumed the EU presidency. It will be an important task over the next six months. And we will do our part to help deliver a stronger, safer, and greener Europe. Because we fully agree that we must step up our defence. Europe must be able to defend itself. Strengthen Ukraine. And weaken Russia.”
UA Denmark stands united with Europe — and with Ukraine.
