PRIME MINISTER METTE FREDERIKSEN VISITED UKRAINE

Denmark provided a new aid package to Ukraine amounting to approximately 2 billion DKK.

Ukraine must be put in the strongest possible position. This is one of the Prime Minister's key messages as she visited Ukraine on Monday alongside colleagues from the Nordic and Baltic countries in connection with the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Therefore, Denmark donated an additional approximately 2 billion DKK to Ukraine. The funds will go towards ammunition for Ukrainian soldiers and the establishment of a Ukrainian brigade-sized unit together with the Nordic and Baltic countries.

The Prime Minister participated in official commemorations of the anniversary, alongside, among others, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

“For three years, Ukrainians have fought heroically in defence against Russia’s full-scale invasion. Putin’s war machine has carried out brutal attacks on civilians, including targeting schools and children's hospitals. Russia is responsible for years of death and destruction,” says Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, continuing, “Denmark’s message to the Ukrainians remains the same as it has been from the start: We will continue our support for as long as necessary. Ukraine is fighting for all of Europe. We must put Ukraine in the strongest possible position. I am proud that Denmark, together with the Nordic and Baltic countries, is leading the way in supporting Ukraine. Now we must stay the course. Deliver more weapons. Faster. Donate to Ukraine’s defence industry. Because we are at a defining moment. What we do now will be crucial for future generations in Ukraine and Europe.”

This marked the Prime Minister’s sixth visit to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in 2022.
