REANIMATION PACKAGE OF REFORMS CELEBRATED ITS 10TH ANNIVERSARY

Ambassador Ole Egberg Mikkelsen delivered a speech at the celebration.
Ten years ago, after the Revolution of Dignity, Ukrainian activists, journalists, think tanks joined forces in the Reanimation Package of Reforms order to transform the protest energy into the power of reforms. Denmark was proud to be among the countries providing support to this crucial initiative.
As the Reanimation Package of Reforms was celebrating its 10th anniversary on March 7th in Kyiv, Ambassador Ole Egberg Mikkelsen gave a speech highlighting the important role that civic society plays in ensuring the continuous transformation leading up to Ukraine’s EU ascension. “The EU-accession process consists of concrete and tangible milestones and entails a profound transformation of the entire society. The accession process is a bit like riding a bicycle. You have to move forward all the time. In this process civic society will have a crucial role to play in ensuring continued progress – of course in cooperation with the executive and the legislative state powers. And the good thing is that the Copenhagen-criteria, that were adopted in 1993 are absolutely clear when it comes to fundamental rights and freedoms and when it comes to human rights and democracy. Here the is a crucial role for civic society to play as a watchdog and a standard setter. I am convinced that Ukrainian civic society and the RPR-coalition will live up to this challenge with the same energy and fighting power as you have displayed during the first ten years of your life.
