FIFTH STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING
The meeting was attended by Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, Ambassador of Denmark to Ukraine, Allan Pagh Kristensen, head of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI), Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, and Anton Tabunshchyk, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council. Lotte Machon, State Secretary for Development Policy at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Vasyl Shkurakov, First Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, joined the meeting online.
The new aid packages are aimed at providing support ahead of the autumn-winter period, ensuring water supply for the region, and restoring critically important social infrastructure and public institutions. Additional goals include attracting new investments, supporting residents of communities and cities recovering from crisis situations, and building resilience. The packages also focus on rehabilitation and ensuring access to essential services in education, protection, mental health, and psychosocial support.
The following organizations will be involved in the implementation of the aid: NEFCO, UNOPS, DRC, KL, UNDP, the Energy Community, Danish Red Cross, Save the Children Denmark, and DanChurchAid.
According to Ole Mikkelsen, in addition to cooperation at the national level, the aid will involve the support of Mykolaiv Oblast by Danish businesses. Examples include the reconstruction and modernization of the National University of Shipbuilding named after Admiral Makarov, projects under the social housing construction program, the provision of modular buildings for the region, and multi-apartment buildings for the city.
During the Steering Committee meeting, the parties also discussed ensuring transparency, accountability, and integrity for enterprises in the region. Allan Pagh Kristensen shared insights on the development of best practices for integrity in Mykolaiv.
